MISCANTHUS

Miscanthus varieties such as this Yaku Jima will show their best if you cut them back to just a few inches from the ground sometime in late February. It's best done with a pruning shears. The dried winter foliage will never again be green, and once the new green foliage emerges, you're stuck with last winter's dead leaves. This is how they should look in your garden.
